Watch the Sculpture Garden grow…Make it a special day by reserving your Newark Airport Limo to travel to Hoboken’s West Side, just minutes from NYC and Newark, to experience this free outdoor exhibition showing sculptures by several talented local artists.  Over this weekend, from noon to 9 p.m., the outdoor event will feature the sculptures and live music including Las Vandelays, guitarist Kaled, David Jacobsen, Troy Wise, St. James, Glen Coleman and others.  The new gallery will feature several musicians Friday evening.

Musician, community activist and art lover, Rolando Ramos, is the brainchild of this event.  Inspired by the art district explosions happening in Jersey City and elsewhere, he is planning to hold other similar events as well as open a free indoor art space to add to the other art venues developing in the West Side.  You can feel the positive energy Rolando Ramos generates, who also organized the first Digable Arts Festival as well as a benefit for cancer research—both quite successful.

Newark Airport Limo experts, American City Express Limo, will add to the positive energy as you experience Rolando Ramos’ vision and become a part of the newly developing art district.  Contact American City Express Limo day or night to make the arrangements.

Come fly in to New Jersey, to find the Shard of the Year!  For instance, from Newark Airport, when you contact the Newark Airport Car Service experts (American City Express), you can soon be on your search for treasure at the shore—the peak season is approaching soon!

Late summer and fall New Jersey area storms churn up the most treasures, just in time for the two-day October 9 North American Sea Glass Association (NASGA) convention.  Be one of the 5,000 or so people who enters their unique shard, hoping to win the coveted Shard of the Year with its $1,000 prize.  What does a $1,000 glass shard look like?  Well, the rules are complex, but include colors and weathering with extra points for lettering or unusual shapes that can identify age—some times going back centuries.

Shard treasures are becoming a little more difficult to find due to recycling, rising water levels, and sand replenishment projects, but a two-hour treasure hunt could land you over 300 pieces of a “new” crop of glass washed in from deeper waters or exposed from shifting sands after years.

Greens and browns are common, but with lettering, they could earn you a Shard of the Year.  Blues are harder to find with cobalt or cornflower blues discovered every 250-500 pieces.  Aqua and seafoam are rarer. It is interesting that most purples were originally clear glass, but the manganese slowly oxides into the rarer hue, according to the Parade.  So, what is the holy grail of glass shards?  True yellows, oranges, and the most rare:  red.

What could be the most delightful day, arranging a ride with the Newark Airport Car Service experts, stopping for a to-go picnic lunch, then walking leisurely along the shore at low tide searching for the grail of shards to win the Shard of the Year prize!  Even if you don’t win, attending the NASGA convention, this year to be held in Hyannis, to see all the treasures would be spectacular, just imagining whether they came from American or other shores, this decade, or centuries ago.  And, even if you don’t attend the convention, you will have made the excursion into a event you will remember—and, no doubt, catch the bug of the searching for THE SHARD.

When you consider Americans consume 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you wonder which hot dogs are rated “the best.” Well, American City Express Limo can take you to the Italian Hot Dog in Northern New Jersey in style to taste the “rippers” or to the New York System in Rhode Island for the “gaggers,” both located within easy driving distance from Newark Airport. Let American City Express take you to the excavation site of the 18th century ocean sailing shipWell, what about this unique opportunity?!  View the progress of excavating an 18th century ocean sailing ship discovered 25 feet below street level at the World Trade Center site!  A 1797 map shows the area used to be Lindsey’s Wharf and Lake’s Wharf on the Hudson River.  The ship was used as landfill to extend the land—a process that is still used today.

History buffs can travel in style with American City Express as they tour past the 18th century ocean sailing ship excavationThe archaeologists are racing time, trying to record as much as possible before the rear lowermost deck double layered planks deteriorate from exposure to the air after being buried for 200 years.  The ship is estimated to have been 70 to 100 feet long.  Also found was a 100-pound anchor, non-lace up shoes, and an odd huge metal collar built into the hull (speculated to be an oven or steam apparatus).

The last large-scale archaeological find along the Manhattan waterfront was in 1982 when an 18th century cargo ship was discovered at 175 Water Street.

Let American City Express Limo make it a special event for you.  Excellent Newark Airport car service, taking in the Manhattan sights—including Water Street and this excavation, then dinner, the skyline, and…..
